Program Goals: The goal of this educational activity is provide nurses with an understanding of the current nutritional guidelines and the effect that glycemic index has on health and disease risk and to recommend practical ways to create meals that support good health, lower disease risk and maintain energy levels.

Program Objectives:
1. Learner will be able to explain how to fill a meal plate with food to balance health and energy.
2. Learner will be able to describe the physiologic responses to food and affect on health & disease risk.
3. Learner will be able to explain in his/her own words the importance of eating pattern as it relates to metabolism & weight.
